This year, horror becomes a Hobbit
Okay, the last time I played a video game that featured live action video, I’m fairly certain that girl from Different Strokes was in it, and I’m totally certain it was awful. But technology has come a long way since then, so I wouldn’t toss out Splendy Games’ invitation to The Bunker quite so quickly. Written by a team comprising writers from The Witcher, SOMA and Broken Sword, The Bunker will star The Hobbit’s Adam Brown and Penny Dreadful’s Sarah Greene.
The Bunker centers around John, the last survivor in a government bunker after a nuclear attack wiped out England. As is common in such scenarios, John has apparently lost (or at least suppressed) his memories, and must confront them to unlock the secrets of the bunker and survive the horrors deep underground.
What separates The Bunker from other modern horror games is that the puzzles, secrets and flashbacks are all delivered entirely through live action video with zero computer generated effects.
In addition to Brown and Greene, The Bunker will star Grahame Fox from Game Of Thrones and Jerome St. John Blake from Star Wars, and feature a “neo-retro soundtrack” by composer Dom Shovelton.
A Mac version has yet to be confirmed along with the PC and console versions, but a Q4 release has been announced for mobile and tablet devices, which will undoubtedly include the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
