Sometimes it’s an insult, other times it’s an excellent game for an excellent gaming device. In this case it’s certainly the latter, as Feral Interactive has announced that Rome: Total War – Barbarian Invasion is now available for iPad.

Rome: Total War - Barbarian Invasion

It’s worth noting straight-away that this is not an update or an IAP for Rome: Total War. Rather, it’s a new, standalone game; a separate war, if if you will, that can be played even if you have purchased the original. The Barbarian Invasion allows you play out the final years of the Roman Empire as a Barbarian commander determined to bring it down. Or, you can take up arms as a Roman General and fight to extend your glorious civilization into a new age. That’s the thing about war…there generally is going to be at least two sides from which to choose, with each thinking their side is more glorious than the other’s.

It’s also worth noting that because Rome: Total War – Barbarian Invasion for iOS aims to replicate the gameplay of its PC predecessor, it’s only playable on the iPad, not for iPhone or iPod touch. Specifically, it requires a first generation iPad Air or newer, an iPad mini 2 or newer, or any iPad Pro running iOS 10.2 or later, and just under 4GB of free space to install. Those requirements are necessary to give you this:

Rome: Total War – Barbarian Invasion for iPad is available now in the iTunes App Store for £4.99/$4.99/€4.99, with no IAPs. For more information, visit
