Minecraft: Story Mode – Season 2 for Mac and iOS arrives July 11th

Although Telltale Games has released a slew of acclaimed story-driven games in the past few years, the one that perhaps best proved how clever they are was Minecraft: Story Mode. Their building blocks were nothing more than…well, building blocks, and they turned out a game which Wired UK claimed “…brilliantly channels its source material.”

Now, they and Mojang have announced that Minecraft: Story Mode – Season 2 is set to premiere on July 11th for Mac and iOS, as well as pretty much everything else on which you can game (aside from Nintendo and Linux).

Minecraft: Story Mode - Season 2
Minecraft: Story Mode – Season 2 will continue Jesse’s saga in a five-part, narrative-driven, episodic game series beginning with Episode 1: Hero in Residence. Players’ choices from the first season will carry over, but Telltale wants you to know this new season will be accessible to newcomers as well. This second season will also include Telltale’s “Crowd Play” multiplayer feature, which allows friends and family to work together by helping to decide the direction of the story from any mobile device with an online connection.

As for the story:

Now that Jesse and the gang have vanquished the Wither Storm, saved the world, and become totally super famous heroes, life has gotten a bit more…complicated. With more responsibilities and less time for adventure, old friendships have started to fade — at least until Jesse’s hand gets stuck in a creepy gauntlet that belongs to an ancient underwater temple. Together with old pals and new comrades alike, Jesse embarks on a brand new journey filled with tough choices, good times, and at least one temperamental llama.

Minecraft: Story Mode – Season 2 will feature voice work from Patton Oswalt, Catherine Taber, Ashley Johnson, and Scott Porter, as well as cameos from Stampy Cat, stacyplays, and other personalities from the Minecraft community on YouTube (who hopefully won’t spend as much time yelling as they do in their videos). Additional casting details will be announced later.

Watch Telltale’s website for more information, and be sure to check out Season 1 on Mac or iOS if you haven’t already.
